A good question that people will often ask in regards to a slipcover is whether they should buy one, or make their own. There are pros and cons to both options as you might imagine. For one, buying a new slipcover is quick and easy. Get the one that fits the furniture you want to cover and you’re done. The costs can be very reasonable and the selection is good.
On the other hand, making your own cover can be costly and time consuming as well. Unless you are a professional seamstress, it can take quite a bit of time in making a furniture slip cover. And when you consider that a cover for a couch could easily take upwards of 8 yards of fabric, it becomes an expense to face.
The advantage though is that you can sew a cover that is completely unique and exactly what you want for your home. You can’t buy this type of satisfaction. So it is a trade off to be sure, and ultimately, it comes down to your own personal preference.
